Woe is my wardrobe!

So ever since I gave my blog a makeover, it kind of started a new obsession with the blogosphere and finding new blogs to follow. I have found a few fashion & style blogs that I JUST LOVE, they are listed to the right on my page. They have become part of the 20 minutes I give myself a day to not do work (and on slow days, it is usually more than 20 minutes)and the styles & pictures these fabulous women post just makes my day!

But huge CON: they also make me kind of depressed that I 1)don't have a lot of free time & resources to style my blog that way, 2)don't have the fashion flair they do, 3)in the grand scheme of things, my wardrobe really sucks, and 4)it made me realize how lazy I have gotten in my daily fashion (or lackthereof) choices.

I do not want this to be a "woe is me" entry, so I am sorry if it comes across that way! But I definately think I have dropped the ball on looking stylish lately. I blame it on frankly, being an adult and having a lot of bills! Since I picked up my new car payment, $$ is lacking in the clothing area. But as mentioned above, I have also become so lazy!

I never wear jewelry much. I only wear rings and a necklace. And they are the same ones every day. I feel like I have grown out of some of the rings/don't even like them, I just wear them because I never take them off. One of them being my high school graduation gift, and the other a ruby/diamond ring that was my mother's. They are treasures and I will always keep them, but I don't really even LIKE them. My FAVORITE ring though, is an antique ring that I received from my grandmother. It was someone's engagement ring (don't remember who's). I think I will always wear it. Necklaces are either my diamond necklace or my Swarovski bow necklace. Both are beautiful & timeless, but they are only what I wear. And earrings-forget it. If I don't keep sticking them in, I know the holes will close up. I have a whole jewelry box filled with equal amount of beautiful & ugly chandelier earrings that I would wear in college. I have a couple beautiful pieces I got at the Limited, but they are more for special occasions. I try to refrain from buying jewelry anywhere else (Charlotte Russe, Forever 21, etc) because they usually fall apart or tarnish quickly.

I never wear heels anymore. And again, the same ones I always wear. Camel heels & black round-toe pumps. I got a wine-colored pair of heels from Target awhile ago that I love. But that's about it. The rest of the time it is flip-flops, a strappy sandal, my TOMS, or ballet flats. After seeing Sex & the City 2 (which was god awful, see post below) it DID motivate me to wear heels more. But of course, all the heels I love are waay out of my budget.

Perfect example= my outfit today. Black pencil skirt, red housing & residence life polo, and black Columbia fleece vest over it with black ballet flats. Sure, it may be office cute, but this is with/in the same lines of what I wear every day. But I do also have to think of the environment in which I work-a university doesn't exactly call the need for very fashion forward looks every day. I am often working around campus, running errands around town, and sitting in meetings with people who are as casual as I am. In general, my wardrobe consists of Gap Outlet, Target, Old Navy, and my old Limited wardrobe I had slowly built while working there for 4 years. Luckily, many of the Limited pieces are pretty classic. I wear the same tops I wore in high school, in some instances!

I need to find a happy medium so I can stop feeling so fashionably lackluster. I DID, however, purchase a new dress from Limited Online for a few weddings I have coming up.

I am excited to try it on. I plan on pairing it with a chunky necklace and my camel heels. And I think it will look great with my new pixie do.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Holly needs an intervention.
