Orange, brown, and red

Usually I am ok with summer ending. I LOVE Fall. But at the same time, there is something about every season I enjoy. (Being a midwesterner that grew up with massive amounts of snow makes winter a slice a cake). Fall is so many wonderful things-pretty leaves, football games, new winter clothes ( I prefer Fall/Winter lines over Spring & summer ones, I somehow find more pieces I like-allows for more creativity), school being fresh, Starbucks pumpkin spice lattes, feeling better about coloring my hair extreme dark shades of red, pumpkin anything, my smelly candles, the smell of the air, comfy inside Sundays.

BUT I am not ok with summer ending this time around. Mostly because I didn't really have one. Summers in student affairs usually consist of half of May and June. July is consumed with training for new professionals and gearing for the Fall, and August is well, August. Year prep just piles and intensifies-the pressure and fear of the unknown for the upcoming semester weighs on your mind. Expect to not have any kind of life. But also expect that when you get your first 9-5, your first summer in a 9-5 is always the most rough. I found myself just leaving my office several times to stand out my front door and watch bulldozers just to get some air. I felt like California was decades ago.

This was also partly my fault, because I could have taken more vacation days. BUT due to this being my first year I had high anxiety about leaving the building for too long and I felt pressure on myself and from my colleagues about taking needed time away. That is, obvi ridiculous, but hey call it first-year-on-the-job-silly-concerns. At this point, I have 28 vacation days and 21 sick days. Whoaaa. I need to get some surgery or somethin to use all those sick days.

Some pretty Fall images.....

I have a similar weakness. Can't wait to bust out the jackets again.

I am excited for fall too.

And I super want that white jacket...

I am in the market for a trenchcoat and will probably buy another winter jacket or peacoat.

Having a weakness for coats/jackets is quite an expensive one. :)
