Small luxuries

Hello! So, I have some apartment updates. Everyone loves homey/interior design updates, right? First things first, I finally finished my painting canvases! It took me flipping forever, but they look nice on my wall. I also have a new coffee table-sort of. I HATED the one I got with the apartment (amongst other things), so I was looking for a replacement. I am starting to save for a really nice flat screen tv to purchase in the fall, so that will take care of the falling apart tv armoire I have and can get rid of. I feel kind of bad complaining about the free furniture I got with the apartment, but compared to the furniture other directors' apartments have, it is clear replacing the Klipple director's furniture was the absolutely last on HRL's list. Sooo I put the coffee table in a secret place in the Noyer basement, and replaced it with the ottoman that matches my humongous chair. I am still looking for a larger tray to place on top, but the one I found at Pier 1 is quite nice. It is comfortable and makes the small space look very homey!

I started my "garden." I am unable to plant in the ground, but I really like how potted plants look so it is ok. I had a few plants I have been able to sustain throughout the year, but I got a few more today. A good friend donated his large fern to me, for which I am eternally grateful. It is big and I am determined to keep it alive, even throughout the winter! I got a large flat planter and put some petunias and ivy in there, and bought a great pre-planted basket, with some roses and small white flowers, not sure what they are called. I underestimated how much room the petunias would take, so I put some small ivy singles in the pot my other ivy was in that was killed by a mysterious insect. I got a pot for my small basil plant (it smells so good!!!!). Overall, it is starting to look pretty good. I will most likely keep adding to it over the summer, lately I am wanting spend money on plants and my apartment rather than clothes (which is odd for Holly....). I think a thunderstorm is coming, so they will get their first rainshower all together!! One big happy plant family. A small citronella candle and a metal garden frog I also inherited gives it some character! Now all I need is a glass of wine while I sit outside :-)
